In early 2005, when the oldest of our three children was almost kindergarten age, I read The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home by Susan Wise Bauer and Jesse Wise. The authors' personal stories and their case for a classical education literally came alive in my mind and I fell in love with the at-home model of a classical education!

Later, I learned of Susan Wise Bauer's new Writing With Ease program and Jesse Wise's First Language Lessons. I was so excited! These materials are so beautiful! They are simple to implement, arranged with an obvious scope and sequence, contain great literature and grammar studies, and are appropriately rigorous! Now all I needed was to find the supplemental materials for history, reading, science, and others and move forward!

Often, however, I struggled to put the curriculum plan into practice. Utilizing the library to find good books to supplement our studies was more difficult than I had thought. Books that we needed would already be checked out; and, it was labor-intensive to find and transfer books around the library system. The library is a good resource for general reading materials; but it has its limitations when timing is important. So, at night, I searched the internet for books and audiobooks -- trying to locate unabridged versions of the books that were still in print.

Searching the multiple curriculum sources listed in The Well-Trained Mind was a daunting task and I wished there was one on-line place to go to find all the materials I needed.
