OMG! LatinMar 18, 2011
By Laura Turner This is actually a very good book and my daughter and I are enjoying it. HOWEVER, it is very difficult to follow the instructions; for instance, on the CD it says to copy pages 6 and 7 for students in the teacher's text. Pages 6 and 7 are BLANK. Finally figured out it was pages 17 & 18 of the teachers text that should be copied. NOT very well created for those who have no exposure to Latin.
Other than that, if you can get over your fear of learning something completely different (for us at least, a 55 year old and an 11 year old) it's really quite educational AND fun. Don't be intimidated (as I was) at the beginning with all the "non-direction" directions. Just do the lesson plans and you'll figure out what they're talking about. Not well put together, but if you have patience and follow through you WILL figure it out.

First time Latin students enjoying Latina Christiana ImmenselyOct 27, 2011
By Merrie We are Home schoolers and have been looking for an affordable, straightforward but technically complete Latin course, and at last my daughter and I have found a great Latin program for older beginners. We have tried a couple of other latin courses written for adult beginners, and whilst they were entertaining, did not contain the grammar and structure that Latina Christiana does. My daughter is a very capable 14 year old with advanced English skills, so we are progressing very rapidly. I have found the teachers manual to be clear and accurate. By lesson two I had gotten the hang of the style and process. We are making our own vocabulary cards as we go to reinforce our learning. The course makes use of some of the wealth of Christian Liturgical and devotional Latin and we have found the songs and prayers to be easy learning tools. Basic sheet music is included and my daughter plays the piano as we sing. We are having great fun and can't wait to finish and move onto the next level. Whilst I did say great for older beginners, the course is written to be useable with much younger students, I have home schooled for years and can see it would work well with younger students, it just would be a slower journey, with more time required to learn the grammar as you progress.
I highly recommend Latina Christiana for students who wish to have a thorough grounding in Latin.
